About Tom Petrizzo

Founder and Principal of Primetime Partners

Professional
Tom Petrizzo is the former Chief Executive Officer of Beacon Mental Health in Kansas City, where he served from January 2014 to August 2025. Under his leadership, Beacon became a nationally recognized Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic (CCBHC) demonstration site in 2017 and has served as the safety-net behavioral health provider for the North Kansas City metropolitan area (collectively known as the Northland) since 1973.
Beacon serves nearly 10,000 adults and children across Platte, Clay, and Ray counties. Throughout his tenure, Tom led the organization through significant clinical, operational, and financial growth while navigating the complexities of national certification and Medicaid reimbursement.In addition to his organizational leadership roles, Tom serves as part-time Executive Director of the Metro Council of Behavioral Health Clinics (MentalhealthKC.org). This regional coalition is focused on advancing access to mental health services across the Kansas City metropolitan area. In this role, he works with providers, policymakers, and community partners to strengthen collaboration and improve mental health outcomes at a systems level.Prior to Beacon, Tom served as Chief Executive Officer of Ozark Guidance Center in Springdale, Arkansas, from 2007 to 2013. He has worked in nonprofit behavioral health leadership and management since 1992. Tom began his professional career as an attorney in Houston, Texas. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Economics from Georgetown University, a Juris Doctor from the University of Texas School of Law, and a Master of Social Work from the University of Houston.CCBHC Experience
In addition to his executive leadership roles, Tom has extensive experience supporting organizations pursuing CCBHC certification and sustainability. He serves as a part-time consultant for the National Council for Mental Wellbeing’s National Training and Technical Assistance Center (NTTAC), working with SAMHSA-funded CCBHC grantees.
Tom also hosts a monthly webinar, the CCBHC Grantee Executives Cohort Call, which he has facilitated for more than four years. Through this work, he has mentored, coached, and advised organizations in Kansas, Nebraska, Indiana, and Missouri as they navigate CCBHC readiness, certification, continuation, and enhancement.Personal
Tom lives in Kansas City, Missouri, with his wife, Teri Classick. He enjoys spending time with his two adult daughters, Jennifer and Madeline, and their families. In his free time, Tom enjoys hiking, jogging, and following the Kansas City Royals and Chiefs.
